Joyce Francis is a New York based artist who hand carves Lucite using dentist drills in a medium referred to as "cold carving". (There are no embedded objects in any of her work.)
She is self-taught and each bag is a one of a kind piece of art.
Joyce's purses are in the permanent collection of costume exhibits at both the Victoria Albert Museum of London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Joyce is also the winner of the prestigious Gladys Blum Award from The National Academy of Fine Arts.
This Joyce Francis handbag with 3D colored water lilies, plants, cattails, dragon-flys and several frogs are all beautifully hand-carved within the yellow-tinted clear Lucite frame of the purse.
